HYDERABAD: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Revanth Reddy has lashed out against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that the promises he made in Palamuru this week were out of desperation. Addressing the media in Gandhi Bhavan on Monday, Revanth said Modi is continuously discriminating Telangana by not fulfilling promises.

"Is Narendra Modi the Prime Minister of Gujarat and not for Telangana? Will the promises given to the people by the previous Governments be fulfilled?" he asked.

"We thought Modi would announce national project status for the Palamuru Rangareddy project during his visit to Mahabubnagar. We hoped that steps would be taken to provide job opportunities to people in Telangana. We hoped that the Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) would be restored. We hoped that Bayyaram Steel Plant and State bifurcation guarantees would be implemented,. But the Prime Minister did not address any of these subjects," Revanth said.

Responding to the promise made by the Prime Minister on establishment of turmeric board and tribal university in Telangana, Revanth said that it was an election gimmick and that BJP leaders had given the same assurances in the past but never implemented it.

"DK Aruna and Kishan Reddy should apologise on behalf of Modi. He conducted a meeting in Mahbubnagar only to sing his praises," Revanth said.

Criticising the ruling BRS Government for mocking the six guarantees promised by the Congress, Revanth said, "People do not trust the BRS anymore. The Congress had implemented the six guarantee schemes in the past namely free electricity, farm loan waiver, fee reimbursement, Arogyashri, Indiramma Housing Scheme and providing minority reservation. These schemes were implemented here were not implemented in any other State when Congress was in power."
