Not sitting on bills, Raj Bhavan dragged into MLAs' poaching muddle: Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan
Tamilisai claimed that the Telangana Government had been carrying out false propaganda that the Common Recruitment Board Bill was held back unnecessarily
HYDERABAD: Telangana Governor Tamilisai on Wednesday claimed that the Telangana Government had been carrying out false propaganda that the Common Recruitment Board Bill was held back unnecessarily.
Addressing a press conference at the Raj Bhavan here, she said: "I was assessing and analysing the necessity for a new recruitment board," Referring to the controversy surrounding the pending bills and the allegations that the Raj Bhavan was deliberately sitting on them, she said that she needed time to get her doubts cleared on these matters.
She further said that a few reports claimed that she had taken more than seven months to approve the bills but it had only been one month and a few days.
The Governor said, "Since the day I had sworn in, I had repeatedly urged the government to fill the vacancies but the bill they had submitted contained no information about the procedure or the protocol of the establishment of the new board. Therefore, I have taken my time to examine the bill comprehensively." The governor further said, "As I wanted to clarify the false propaganda spread against me about the issue, I have called for a press conference."
Commenting about the recent MLAs' poaching scandal, the Governor said that the institution of Raj Bhavan was unnecessarily dragged into the controversy. She further expressed apprehensions that the State Government might be tapping her phone. "I suspect that my phone was tapped and the Raj Bhavan was dragged into the farmhouse scandal by referring to Tushar Vellapally, who had earlier worked as my ADC. He only called me up to convey his Diwali wishes." Tushar Vellapally currently heads the Biju Janata Dal (BJDS), an ally of the BJP.
Tamilisai Soundararajan also questioned the State Government about the alleged warning of the Students Joint Action Committee about organising a protest in front of Raj Bhavan. She alleged that the TRS Government was provoking the students to protest. "The gates of Raj Bhavan are always open, unlike the Pragati Bhavan," she concluded.
