MAHABUBABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) President and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) lashed out at the rulers of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, especially the Congress for neglecting the development of the tribal hamlets in Mahabubabad region.

Addressing the ‘Praja Ashirvada Sabha’ at Mahabubabad on Friday the BRS Chief blamed the Congress party for all the sorrows of the people of Telangana. “Mahabubabad, which struggled with a famine crisis before the formation of Telangana, is now prospering with green revolution with the supply of 24-hour free power and availability of abundant water for both irrigation and drinking water needs through Sri Ram Sagar project (SRSP) and revival of Vennavaram branch canal,” he said.

Brushing aside the Congress party’s claim that it had delivered Telangana State, KCR reiterated that Telangana was not given by anyone, but was achieved by the people due to their collective fight.

“If voted to power the Congress will discontinue the BRS-introduced schemes including Rythu Bandhu, Dalit Bandhu and even uninterrupted power supply to farmers. People should teach a befitting lesson to the Congress and bless the BRS for holistic development of the State,” he said.

Highlighting the development done by the BRS Government to the region, KCR said that it was the BRS Government that developed an Integrated District Offices Complex (IDOC) in Mahabubabad, constructed a medical college, an engineering college and established other institutions. Apart from that, as many as 205 Tandas were upgraded to gram panchayats empowering the tribes. Works related to various development projects worth Rs 50 crore about Mahabubabad, were under progress in different stages and distributed pattas to podu lands to an extent of 20,000 acres, he said.

The Chief Minister also said that several measures were taken to improve the living standards of tribals by supplying a three-phase power supply at an estimated cost of Rs 300 crore. “Telangana is the only State in the country which has the highest number of gurukul residential schools and ensures education for the tribals,” he said.

KCR urged the people to re-elect BRS candidate Shankar Naik once again and assured them that he would fulfill all the needs of the Mahabubabad constituency, apart from developing the region as an industrial hub.
