JAGTIAL: More than 1,000 JNTU students, along with Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MP Santosh Kumar, planted 1,000 tree saplings in Kondagattu on Saturday, demonstrating their dedication and commitment to environmental conservation.

The Green India Challenge, led by the founder and MP Joginipalli Santosh Kumar, witnessed a wonderful event on Saturday at Kondagattu forest region. The theme "Fight against plastic pollution and control its use" was featured in the sixth phase of the Green India Challenge.

MP Santosh Kumar hailed Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) for his vision and cooperation in restoring the renowned Lord Anjaneya Swamy Temple within the lush Kondagattu forest area. This initiative sought to establish the site as one of the country's top spiritual centres while also preserving its natural beauty, he said.

Santosh Kumar had previously pledged that the forest land adjacent to the temple would be adopted and developed under the Green India Challenge to fulfill Chief Minister KCR's ambition. Santosh Kumar sanctioned several efforts, including the construction of a protective barrier, walking trail, watchtower, gazebos, and the restoration of the forest area surrounding the temple premises, with an allocation of Rs 1.04 crore from MP funds.

Forest Minister Indrakaran Reddy lauded Santosh Kumar's commitment and emphasised the importance of the Green India Challenge as a paradigm for the entire country. Santosh Kumar's efforts in developing environmental awareness and supporting extensive plantation activities were lauded by the minister.

The event drew enthusiastic participation and support from ministers, MLAs, local public representatives, and officials, who congratulated MP Santosh Kumar on his instrumental role in adopting the forest and driving development work at the Anjaneya Swamy Temple in his native district of Jagtial. The Green India Challenge continues to gather momentum as it inspires individuals and communities to actively contribute to environmental preservation and create a sustainable future.
