HYDERABAD: As many as 9.10 lakh new young voters have registered to vote in the Telangana State Assembly Elections 2023, according to Telangana CEO Vikas Raj.

While speaking to media on Friday, Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Raj said "The filing of nominations in Telangana has begun with the issuance of notifications. The voting will take place until 4 p.m. in 13 constituencies and until 5 p.m. in other constituencies on November 30, 2023.

"Nominations will be accepted on all days except Sunday. Candidates can file a maximum of four sets of 'nomination papers', but the deposit has to be paid for only one. Applications for the voter enrollment received by October 31 will be processed until November 10. Voter registration forms will be distributed in advance, " he added.

During the Telangana State Assembly Elections in 2018, voter turnout was lowest in 15 Assembly constituencies (ACs) in Hyderabad, 5 ACs in Medchal-Malkajgiri, 4 ACs in Rangareddy, and 1 AC each in Hanmakonda, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Nizamabad, and Mancherial, according to Telangana CEO.

Vikas Raj also said the EC planned to boost voter turnout in urban areas due to low voter turnout rates during the Telangana Assembly Elections 2018. He said that awareness programs would be increased across the State to enhance voter percentage mainly to attract the young voters.

Vikas Raj revealed that law enforcement officials confiscated cash, gold, silver, and other items a total of Rs. 453 crore so far.

He said, "A total of 362 cases and 256 FIRs were registered till date and 2,487 complaints were received through the cVigil App. We have set up 205 checkpoints and instructed officials to immediately release any seized cash if evidence is available.

We attempted to keep the guidelines as simple as possible and set up over 2,000 polling stations across the state to make the voting process as easy as possible for the common man."
