Parties clash at many places in Telangana, police restore peace

HYDERABAD: Police resorted to mild cane charges near several booths on Thursday to chase away party workers belonging to the BRS and the Congress who resorted to fistfights and unruly behaviour.
Police resorted to lathi-charge at Rajendranagar in Hyderabad when the BRS and the Congress workers started fighting with each other by throwing chairs and tables at each other. Police dispersed warring groups in the Day School booth in Kamareddy where Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is contesting.
In Mannanur, police used mild force to chase away clashing BRS and Congress workers. In Aiza of Gadwal, the Congress workers almost entered into a brawl with the police manning the polling booth. In Bodhan, BRS and Congress workers clashed at the Vijaya Mary School. In Khanapur of Ibrahimpatnam, the Congress and the BRS workers entered into fistfights. In Jangaon at booth number 245, activists of the BRS, BJP, Congress, and CPI clashed with each other.
Meanwhile, TPCC senior vice president Niranjan made a complaint to the Election Commission of India against MLC K Kavitha that she had made a statement calling the voters to elect BRS candidates. Congress also complained against Bellampally MLA Durgam Chinnni for sporting a pink scarf while casting his vote inside a polling booth.
Heavy traffic on Ibrahimpatnam, Maheswaram and Nagarjuasagar routes caused traffic snarls with many voters trying to reach their native places to utilise their voting rights. Heavy vehicular traffic was noticed on the LB Nagar-Ibrahimpatnam and LB Nagar-Nalgonda-Suryapet routes.
