HYDERABAD: Tensions prevailed near the Telangana Secretariat on Monday as police clashed with unemployed youth and other activists attempting to siege the building during a 'Chalo Secretariat' protest organized by unemployed youth and the BC Jana Sabha.

The protesters demanded that the Congress government fulfill its pre-election promises, including releasing a job calendar, notification for mega DSC recruitment, and postponing DSC exams. They also sought to increase Group II and III posts and a 1:100 candidate selection ratio for Group I mains examinations.

Police detained several BC Jana Sabha activists as they tried to breach the Secretariat, leading to a scuffle and raising slogans against the Congress government and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.

"We demand the government honour its commitment to provide two lakh jobs, release a job calendar, and issue a mega DSC notification," stated BC Jana Sabha President Rajaram Yadav following his arrest. He threatened to lay siege to Revanth Reddy's residence if the demands of the unemployed were not met.

Anticipating a large turnout, police fortified the Secretariat, deploying heavy security measures, including barricades and water cannons. Authorities detained protesters arriving from various parts of the state, preventing them from reaching the Secretariat.
