Pravallika suicide case: Shivaram Rathod surrenders before Nampally Court
Almost a week ago, Pravallika died by suicide due to depression and torture by Shivaram Rathod at a hostel in Chikkadapally
HYDERABAD: Shivaram Rathod, who allegedly tortured and was responsible for the suicide of Marri Pravallika (23), a student from Warangal, surrendered before the Nampally Court here on Friday. Almost a week ago, Pravallika died by suicide due to depression at a hostel in Chikkadapally.
Representatives from student organisations, leaders from the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a protest against the BRS Government and attributed Pravallika’s suicide to the cancellation of the TSPSC Group 2 examination. Special teams were constituted by the police to arrest Shivaram Rathod.
The police in their investigation verified the call data of Pravallika and found the Whatsapp conversation with him. Police booked a case against Shivaram under Section 306, 417 and 420 of the IPC following a complaint made by Pravallika’s mother, Marri Vijaya.
On Friday, Shivaram surrendered before the court. However, the court dismissed the remand petition of Shivaram and cited that there was no evidence in the case. Later the Chikkadpally police arrested Shivaram Rathod and produced him before the court on Saturday.
