HYDERABAD: Days after 23-year-old Marri Pravallika who committed suicide in a hostel in Chikkadapally her mother Vijaya and brother Pranay have demanded severe punishment against Shivaram who allegedly ruined Pravallika’s life.

In a video shared by the family on Tuesday, Vijaya said, “For the last two years, my daughter and son Pranay have been studying in Hyderabad. My husband and I have been striving hard to educate them. Unable to bear the torture from Shivaram, my daughter resorted to the extreme step. The culprit should be punished severely.”

Reacting on the propaganda of political parties that Pravallika committed suicide due to postponement of Group 2 examinations, Vijaya appealed to the parties to not create ruckus for attaining political benefits by involving their family members into it.

Vijaya also appealed to the police not to allow Shivaram to roam freely and punish the culprit severly to avoid recurrence of such incidents in the future. Pravallika’s brother Pranay said that Shivaram was introduced to his sister through her friend. “I meet my sister thrice a week as we both stay nearby in the same locality. My sister suffered a lot because of Shivaram who forced her to speak before other hostel mates. Pravallika was depressed as she was scared to inform me and my parents about Shivaram’s torture,” he said.

Shivaram harassed my sister near the hostel and kept calling her from unknown numbers. With no option left, Pravallika committed suicide, he said. “We are appealing to the Government to arrest Shivaram and hang him to death or encounter him to do justice to my family,” Pranay said. He also ruled out the Government’s role in Pravallika’s suicide and appealed to the political parties like Congress to not visit his house and politicise his sister’s death.
