Puvvada Ajay prays to Godavari to recede

BHADRACHALAM: Telangana Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar on Saturday reviewed the situation arising out of the floods to river Godavari floods. He held a high-level meeting at Bhadrachalam where he assessed the relief measures and deliberated on the precautions to be taken in the flood-affected parts.
The review meeting was held at the conference hall of Bhadrachalam ITDA with officials from medical and health, roads & buildings, panchayat raj, power, Mission Bhagiratha, irrigation and police departments.
CCLA Director Rajat Kumar Shiney, Singareni CMD Sridhar, Panchayat Raj Commissioner Hanumanth Rao, District Collector Anudeep, District SP Vineeth, ITDA PO Gautham and ZP Chairman Koram Kanakaiah were among those present at the meeting.
The minister directed the officials to ensure that people do not face any difficulties and take steps to keep all essential items available for them. Local authorities are advised to be available to the public and continue the relief efforts.
Several areas of Bhadrachalam and around were inundated due to the flood fury of river Godavari which was influenced by heavy rains in upper catchment areas. The water level in the river at the temple town reached 70 feet, surpassing the preliminary danger levels.
Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar also performed special puja rituals hoping that it would result in the receding of flood levels. Vedic scholars, priests and temple officials offered aarti to the river at the bathing ghats to appease the goddess of Godavari.
