HYDERABAD: In a relief for Excise Minister V Srinivas Goud, the Telangana High Court has dismissed a petition filed against him claiming that Goud had submitted a false affidavit in the 2018 elections and that his election should be invalidated.

Srinivas Goud had appeared before an advocate commission to explain his version. The commission then submitted its report to the High Court. After examining the report, the court refused to entertain the contentions of the petitioner and dismissed the petition.

In 2019, Raghavendra Raju filed a petition in the High Court that Srinivas Goud's election from Mahabubnagar in 2018 had to be nullified as he had suppressed information about his wife's properties and loans they had availed. He also alleged that once the election affidavit was given to the returning officer, it was taken back and changed which was illegal. The court however dismissed this petition.
