HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has accused the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of aiding the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in securing eight parliamentary seats in Telangana.

Addressing a press conference at his residence in Jubilee Hills on Wednesday, Revanth Reddy claimed that the BRS fielded weak candidates to ensure BJP's success in the recent elections.

Revanth Reddy alleged that BRS leaders, including BRS President and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and former minister T Harish Rao, deliberately diverted votes to the BJP. "Harish Rao diverted BRS votes to BJP in Siddipet, and KCR and Harish together ensured BJP's victory in the Medak constituency. KCR worked hard for the victory of BJP leaders by fielding weak candidates," he stated.

The Chief Minister highlighted the Congress party's significant increase in vote share, which rose to 41 per cent compared to 39.5 per cent in the previous assembly elections. Reddy attributed this rise to Rahul Gandhi's padayatra and the implementation of key guarantees within the first 100 days of Congress rule. In contrast, the BRS experienced a dramatic drop in support, plummeting from 37.5 per cent in the assembly elections to just 16.5 per cent. Meanwhile, the BJP's vote share surged from 20 per cent in the assembly elections to 35 per cent in the parliamentary elections, a leap that Revanth Reddy attributed to strategic alliances and the BRS's alleged fielding of weak candidates.

Revanth Reddy criticised KCR for political anarchy and accused him of compromising the self-respect of BRS MLAs to benefit the BJP. He suggested that BRS should change its political tactics to avoid further damage.

He also called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to resign, claiming that the people had rejected his leadership. "Modi's guarantee is out of warranty. People have judged and rejected Modi. He should not take the post of Prime Minister again," he asserted.

He expressed hope that the new government in Andhra Pradesh would work for the welfare of the people and reaffirmed Congress's commitment to guaranteeing special status to the state.

Revanth Reddy thanked the people of Telangana for their support and highlighted the increased voting percentage for Congress compared to the assembly elections. He expressed satisfaction with the Congress party's performance, attributing the positive results to Rahul Gandhi's padayatra and the party's governance within the first 100 days.
