HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy launched the "Katamayya Rakshaka Kavacham" (Safety Equipment) scheme at Tativanam in Abdullapurmet on Sunday.

During his speech, Revanth Reddy acknowledged the support of the Goud community in campaigning for Congress in the elections. He highlighted their belief that respect for weaker sections would be enhanced under Congress rule in Telangana, noting the Gouds' fighting spirit and robustness.

Revanth Reddy said that his government was committed to supporting people who rely on traditional occupations. He praised the Goud community for their resilience, likening their experiences to climbing Everest, which he found valuable for their protection.

The Chief Minister emphasised the Congress government's dedication to uplifting weaker sections, mentioning the continuation of the fee reimbursement scheme introduced during the YSR regime. He also announced that the government would allow the cultivation of palm and Indian date palm trees on government lands.

Revanth Reddy suggested that Excise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao incorporate the planting of these trees into the Vanamahotsavam program and encouraged Minister Sridhar Babu to plant them along water bodies, roads, ponds, and canals.

He said that the state government was committed to preserving the culture of the Goud community and urged them to pursue higher education for their children. He stressed that education was a powerful tool for weaker sections to rise to positions of power.

Revanth Reddy announced plans to extend the Metro Rail to Hayath Nagar, with preparations already underway. He also unveiled plans to establish universities, a medical tourism hub, and industries in the land acquired for pharma companies. Additionally, he promised to develop Maheswaram into a city comparable to New York City and transform the Rachakonda area into a film-making hub.

The Chief Minister assured significant development for the Rangareddy district and aimed to promote it as a premier tourist destination.

Revanth Reddy criticised leaders who previously claimed Congress was finished, noting that BRS MLAs are now joining Congress to support Telangana's development. He accused rivals of attempting to topple his government but expressed confidence that Congress would rule the state for the next decade.

He claimed that the previous BRS government had plunged Telangana into debt while his government was overcoming obstacles and progressing.

The Chief Minister, Assembly Speaker Gadam Prasad, and ministers also participated in a community lunch with the Goud community.
