HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy strongly criticised the 'One Nation One Election' proposal, calling it a conspiracy to assert dominance in the country.

Revanth Reddy was addressing a memorial meeting held on Saturday to honour the late CPM national leader Sitaram Yechury. He stressed the need to oppose the policy and preserve democratic values, citing the absence of leaders like Sitaram Yechury, whose guidance is deeply missed in such critical times.

During the event, he described Yechury's death as an irreparable loss for the Left and for Indian democracy, praising his unwavering commitment to uplifting the poor and raising their voices on political platforms nationwide. He also compared Yechury to Congress leader S Jaipal Reddy, noting their shared legacy as highly respected national figures.

Revanth Reddy commended Yechury’s lifelong adherence to his party's ideology and appreciated the family's decision to donate his mortal remains to a hospital for medical purposes. He further highlighted Yechury's role in supporting key welfare bills during the UPA rule, noting that AICC leader Rahul Gandhi considered Yechury a mentor.

The Chief Minister also condemned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence following a Union Minister’s controversial remarks against Rahul Gandhi, calling it a sign of fascist policies and a disregard for the country’s democratic principles.
