HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy praised the welfare schemes introduced by the former Chief Minister, late Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy, stating that they had set a benchmark for the nation.

He was addressing the 75th birth anniversary celebrations of YSR at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday. Revanth Reddy and other Congress leaders also inaugurated a YSR Photo Exhibition. Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister, ministers, and other senior leaders paid floral tributes to YSR at his statue at Panjagutta.

Addressing the gathering, Revanth Reddy emphasised that YSR's legacy remained in people's hearts. He noted that whenever welfare was discussed, YSR's contributions were remembered. He highlighted that the Congress party's six guarantees were inspired by YSR's welfare measures. He added that despite YSR's untimely demise, his spirit continued to inspire the Congress.

Revanth Reddy also asserted that Rahul Gandhi was close to becoming the Prime Minister, urging activists to work tirelessly towards this goal. He stated that Rahul Gandhi's leadership would benefit the poor and fulfill YSR's vision. He encouraged YSR's true heirs to join Congress as he had wished for Rahul Gandhi to become the Prime Minister. He said Rahul Gandhi declared that his Bharat Jodo Yatra was inspired by YSR's padayatra. He noted that YSR had significantly contributed to the development of Greater Hyderabad.

He announced that 35 Congress leaders were appointed as Corporation Chairmen on the occasion of YSR Jayanti, as YSR used to prioritise rewarding dedicated party workers.





In his speech, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka commended YSR for his remarkable achievements in a short period, earning a place in the hearts of millions. He affirmed the government's commitment to YSR's vision of development and welfare, likening them to two essential elements. Bhatti highlighted YSR's initiatives, including the Jalayagnam for irrigation, fee reimbursement for poor students, and Arogyasri for healthcare, which had left an indelible mark on Hyderabad's development.

AICC Telangana in-charge Deepadas Munshi praised YSR's governance, noting that YSR's legacy remained strong among the people even years after his passing.
