HYDERABAD: Following in the footsteps of former AICC president Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra, Telangana Congress Pradesh President (TPCC) Revanth Reddy embarked on 'Haath Se Haath Jodo' padayatra in the poll-bound state on Monday.

MLA Seethakka, several Telangana Congress leaders and a large number of party activists accompanied Revanth Reddy in his foot march. Prior to beginning the first phase of his padayatra, he performed special pujas to famous local goddesses Sammakka Saralamma in Medaram.

As part of the first phase of his yatra, Revanth Reddy plans to visit 60 of the state's 119 constituencies over the next two months.

On Monday morning, Revanth Reddy started for Medaram where he began his padayatra in the evening. Revanth Reddy's daughter offered him a harati and expressed her best wishes for the padayatra's success.

Revanth Reddy posted on his Twitter account, "The first day of the #HaathSeHaathJodo padayatra in my sister's constituency is a big success. We shall continue to spread the message of our leader, Shri @RahulGandhi ji, throughout the state. #YatraForChange".

The TPCC chief dropped by the Gattamma and Sai Baba temples, close to Mulugu district, on his way to Medaram. Special pujas were held during this occasion.

Revanth Reddy will travel to Kothur, Narlapur, Project Nagar and other places, addressing corner meetings and interacting with local communities. The day's padayatra will conclude at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ramappa Temple in Palampet.

Revanth Reddy said that after the first phase of the padayatra was completed, the party would discuss and decide on the second phase. He said that national leaders of the party would be present on several occasions during the course of the padayatra.
