Revanth Reddy pledges to release Job Calendar post-budget, review Group exam dates
The Chief Minister holds a three-hour long meeting to discuss job-related issues.
HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy reaffirmed the government's commitment to filling all vacancies in government departments, addressing the issues raised by job aspirants. He cautioned the unemployed against falling prey to conspiracies by political parties and vested interests.
The Chief Minister assured that the government would make decisions that prevent legal hurdles due to sudden rule changes during examination periods. He warned that wrong choices, like those made by the previous government, could result in the cancellation of current job notifications.
He said that the government has already issued notifications to fill 28,942 posts. Further, the government cleared longstanding legal hurdles to fill Group-1, Group-2, and Group-3 posts. Efforts are underway to fill these vacancies according to the job calendar. He announced that the job calendar would be released after the upcoming budget session of the state legislative assembly. He assured that the calendar would be designed to avoid conflicts with other recruitment exams conducted by the central government and other boards.
Revanth Reddy accused political parties of exploiting the unemployed for political gains while the government strives to deliver justice to job aspirants. He warned that the recruitment process would halt if the government made decisions contrary to notification provisions under political pressure.
In a meeting held on Friday, Revanth Reddy discussed job notifications with Bhongir MP Ch Kiran Reddy, MLC Balmoori Venkat, Youth Congress State President Shivsena Reddy, Sama Rammohan Reddy, Professor Riaz, Teachers JAC Harshvardhan Reddy, OU student leaders Changani Dayakar, Manavata Rai, Bala Lakshmi, Charakonda Venkatesh, Kalva Sujatha, and others.
During the three-hour meeting, the Chief Minister addressed the demands and concerns of the unemployed. He then consulted with Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari and other top officials to discuss the issues. The meeting reviewed the demand to select candidates at a 1:100 ratio instead of 1:50 for the Group One mains examination. Officials explained that the Group 1 exam had been postponed twice due to paper leaks and poor decisions by the previous government. The current administration withdrew a petition from the Supreme Court and issued a fresh Group-1 notification, adding more posts.
Nearly 4 lakh candidates appeared for the Group 1 prelims examination after a 12-year gap. The Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) recently conducted the preliminary exam strictly. According to the notification, selection for the mains will be based on merit in the prelims, with 50 candidates per post.
Officials cautioned that changing the rules to select 100 candidates per post could invite court intervention and risk notification cancellation. They referenced the Supreme Court judgment in UPSC Vs Gaurav Dwivedi (1999), which stated that allowing more candidates than mentioned in the notification would be unjust to those already qualified.
Discussions also covered increasing Group 2 and Group 3 posts. Officials informed Revanth Reddy that increasing posts during the examination process would violate the notification and invite court intervention. The government increased Group 1 posts because a fresh notification was issued, but there is no flexibility to increase posts in Group 2 and Group 3 notifications.
Student union leaders highlighted that candidates struggle with back-to-back Group 2 and DSC exams. The DSC exams are scheduled from July 17 to August 5, and the Group 2 exams are scheduled for August 7 and 8, making preparation difficult for job aspirants. The Chief Minister assured them that the government would discuss the exam dates with TGPSC and the Education Department and make a decision.
