Revanth Reddy promises to upgrade 65 ITIs into advanced training institutes
Telangana Govt, in partnership with Tata Company, will invest Rs 2,324 crores to upgrade 65 ITIs under a new skills program.
HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced that 65 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across Telangana would be developed as highly advanced training institutes.
This announcement was made on Tuesday during the foundation stone laying ceremony for the Advanced Technology Centre (ATC) at ITI Mallepally in Hyderabad.
The Chief Minister emphasised the importance of addressing unemployment, a key issue in the formation of Telangana. He stated, "My government's aim is to provide job opportunities to the unemployed youth."
Highlighting the current state of government-owned ITIs, Revanth Reddy noted that these institutes have become unproductive. "Skill development training in the ITIs is not serving the main purpose of providing employment opportunities. Outdated programs introduced 40 to 50 years ago are still being used," he said.
Revanth Reddy expressed his commitment to the students and the unemployed community, referring to them as his family members. He said, "We developed the concept of upgrading the ITIs as Advanced Training Centres. We are not rulers; we are the people's servants."
He pointed out the high number of young men and women seeking jobs and stressed the need for technical skills. "Certificates alone will not increase living standards. My strong belief is technical skills will provide more job opportunities," he added.
Under the new technical skills development programme, the state will invest Rs 2,324 crores to upgrade the 65 ITIs. The Tata Company has partnered with the state government for this initiative. The Chief Minister thanked the Tata management for their support in offering skill development training.
Revanth Reddy highlighted the competitive edge of Telugu people in the IT sector and underscored the government's responsibility to provide training and jobs to students from middle and lower-class families. He also urged female students to join ITIs for skill development training.
As the Minister of Employment Generation, Revanth Reddy assured that he would closely monitor and review the ATCs' performance every month to ensure their effectiveness in empowering the unemployed.
