Revanth Reddy wants HYDRA to replace GHMC in disaster management
Revanth Reddy outlines HYDRA's expanded role, including managing unauthorized hoardings and enhancing inter-department coordination.
HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has proposed several key measures to finalise the operational modalities for the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection Authority (HYDRA).
In a meeting held at the Secretariat on Friday, the Chief Minister suggested that HYDRA should be given the responsibility for managing an area within a 2,000 square kilometre radius up to the Outer Ring Road (ORR). He recommended transferring the authority to remove unauthorised hoardings and flexies, along with the power to collect penalties, from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to HYDRA.
Additionally, Revanth Reddy emphasised the importance of aligning police station limits with assembly constituency limits within the zonal division. He called for a study to establish stringent rules to curb the encroachment of nalas, ponds, and government lands.
To ensure effective coordination, the Chief Minister urged regular collaboration between the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), Water Works, Disaster Management, and Municipal departments. He stressed the need to develop HYDRA into a robust system and suggested considering special allocations for HYDRA if necessary.
Revanth Reddy directed that complete modalities and guidelines for HYDRA should be formulated before the start of the Assembly session.
