Revanth slams BJP, TRS for using September 17 for political gains

HYDERABAD: Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, whom the BJP is trying to own, including in commemorating Hyderabad Liberation Day, was a Congress leader, claimed TPCC President Revanth Reddy on Saturday.

Revanth Reddy, who unveiled the newly-designed Telangana Talli statue at Gandhi Bhavan on the occasion of Telangana Liberation Day, asserted that the BJP party had no involvement in the Telangana peasants armed struggle and India's freedom movement.

Revanth Reddy said that the BJP was giving a religious spin to everything for political gains. He declares that Telangana and the country were liberated by the Congress.

The BJP was misrepresenting history and attempting to stir communal hatred. They intended to use September 17 as a tool for this. Junagad in Gujarat was also integrated into the Indian Union along with Hyderabad. "Why is Gujarat's Liberation Day not being celebrated by the BJP?" asked the TPCC President.

Revanth Reddy said that the BJP was holding events only in Hyderabad for political gains. He also challenged Kishan Reddy to first celebrate Liberation Day in Gujarat before coming to Hyderabad. He stated that Gujarati ministers and investors were carrying out this programme as part of a plot against Telangana. Revanth Reddy made fiery remarks, claiming that they were attempting to relocate industries from Hyderabad to Gujarat.

They were trying to incite a communal tension in Hyderabad, which was known for its peace. Revanth Reddy slammed the TRS and the BJP for fostering an environment in which politicians were treated like aliens. He urged the people of Telangana to end the conspiracies by voting for the Congress.

Meanwhile, there was internal opposition from within the Congress for having a Telangana thalli statue designed and launched as it might not gain currency.
