Rouse Avenue Court remands Kavitha to judicial custody in CBI case till April 23, she calls it BJP custody

NEW DELHI: The Rouse Avenue Court here on Monday remanded BRS MLC K Kavitha to judicial custody till April 23 in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) case over the alleged liquor policy scam.

Special CBI judge Kaveri Baweja passed the order after Kavitha was produced before the Court after the completion of her three days of CBI custody.

The CBI which described Kavitha as a co-conspirator in the liquor policy case sought 14 days of judicial custody for her. Kavitha’s counsel argued that the accused in this case had every right to say what she wanted to say. "The accused is not required to answer the way they want, in a customized manner," he argued.

However, the CBI said that Kavitha had to be examined in connection with the evidence that surfaced during the further investigation of the case.

There seems to be no respite for the BRS MLC as the Rouse Avenue Court denied interim bail in the ED’s money laundering case. Her regular bail plea is fixed for a hearing on April 16.

BJP custody

Leaving the court Kavitha told the media that the investigating agency CBI and the BJP had been talking the same language. “It is a BJP custody, not CBI custody. They have been asking me the same thing again and again for the past two years, there is nothing new in it,” she said.
