HYDERABAD: The Telangana Government has successfully completed the disbursement of the 11th phase of ‘Rythu Bandhu’ financial aid of Rs 7624.74 crore pertaining to 1.52 crore acres of land owned by 68.99 lakh farmers in the State.
Payment under ‘Rythu Bandhu’ started on June 26, 2023 and the Government initially planned to clear all arrears by August 10, but completed the task ahead of schedule.
While Nalgonda district topped in disbursement by depositing Rs 609.67 crore in the accounts of 5,08,756 farmers, Medchal Malkajgiri district which deposited Rs 33.60 crore in the accounts of 35,879 farmers was the last in the list.
Thanking Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for keeping his word, Minister for Agriculture Singireddy Niranjan Reddy, said that the 11th phase was successfully completed despite financial constraints faced by the State.
“The opposition parties criticised us that the programme was launched keeping elections in mind. But we have so far deposited Rs 72,815 crore directly into the accounts of farmers without a glitch, which is a record of sorts in Indian history,” Niranjan Reddy observed.
With free power, irrigation, Rythu Bandhu aid, Rythu Bima and total procurement of food grains and other crops Telangana had secured farmers from the farm-related vagaries unlike the farmers of other States in the country, Niranjan Reddy said.
