KAMAREDDY: In the rarest of a rare cases of sexual harassment by a senior Government officer, 21 medical officers working in Primary Health centres (PHCs) of Kamareddy district made a complaint against the District Medical and Health Officer alleging sexual harassment.

According to the complaint addressed to the principal secretary of health and district collector, the officer was sexually harassing them by touching them with inappropriate behavior and abusive language for the past one and a half years.

They mentioned that the said officer was forcing them to sit next to him whenever he visited the PHCs. They alleged that he was verbally abusing them if they refused to obey his orders. He was also calling them on the phone and enquiring about their marital life. The officer also harassed women who entered his chambers on office work.

The 21 lady officers mentioned that he compared the women to prostitutes during a recent training programme held on May 8, even though he had no role in that training programme.

The women enclosed all necessary pieces of evidence for their complaint to the higher officials.
