HYDERABAD: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu has directed officials to expedite the remaining work at the Naini Coal Block in Odisha, recently allocated to Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL). The goal is to begin coal production within the next four months.

During a review meeting at the Secretariat, Bhatti Vikramarka met with Energy Secretary Ronald Ross, SCCL Managing Director N Balaram, and other officials to discuss the project timeline.

Emphasising the significance of this venture as SCCL's first outside Telangana, Mallu urged the officials to ensure the mining operations enhance the reputation of both the state government and the company. He also stressed the importance of prioritising the welfare of the local community.

All necessary permissions for the Naini Coal Block have been secured, and the Odisha government has already transferred 783.27 hectares of forest land to SCCL. The Odisha Chief Minister has responded positively to the progress in tree counting, removal, and subsequent land handover.

Bhatti Vikramarka instructed SCCL to constantly communicate with the Odisha Forest Department to expedite these processes. He also emphasised providing displaced villagers with a comprehensive Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) package, including Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and employment opportunities. He further directed the officials to establish a detailed timeline for the project's execution.
