HYDERABAD: Telangana Home Minister Mahmood Ali directed the State DGP and Commissioners of Police in Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda to take additional effective measures to reduce overall criminal activity in the state, specifically murders, attempted murders, and crime against women, during a review meeting on Wednesday.

Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali convened a high-level meeting in his office chambers at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat with the Principal Secretary, Home, DGP and Commissioners of Police to review crime in the Tri-Police Commissionerates of Hyderabad, Rachakonda, and Cyberabad on Wednesday.

Mahmood Ali highlighted the police department's commitment to public safety and security through numerous reforms and innovative initiatives since Telangana formation, gaining good name for the State.

The Home Minister emphasized the Telangana police department's top position in installing CCTV cameras across the country. Mahmood Ali also urged the police to ensure effective installation and maintenance of CCTV cameras in colonies, bastis, sensitive areas, and junctions, as well as to prevent the circulation of fake and provocative messages.

According to the Home Minister, the police department was reorganised following the establishment of Telangana State and the reorganisation of Districts by forming New Commissionerates, District Police Offices, Sub Divisional Police Offices, Circles, and Police Stations for effective policing.

The Home Minister asked officers to conduct regular crime reviews and to keep close watch on crime trends. He also asked officers to keep a close vigil on the activities of rowdy sheeters and history sheeters.

Given the increased use of the internet these days, Mahmood Ali asked law enforcement officers to conduct awareness campaigns and educate the public concerning cybercrime.

Principal Secretary, Home Jithender, DGP Anjani Kumar, Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand, Commissioners of Police, Rachakonda, D.S. Chouhan, and CP, Cyberabad, Stephen Ravindra, were present during the review meeting.
