HYDERABAD: A short, three-day session of Telangana Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council began on Tuesday morning. The State Assembly began its proceedings by taking up motions of condolence to mourn former members Mallu Swarajyam and Pariparti Janardhan Reddy. The House also observed a two-minute silence as a mark of paying their respect for the late members.
As is the tradition, Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy adjourned the House until next Monday, September 12, soon after the condolence motions. A meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of the Assembly was scheduled to be held after the adjournment of the House. The meeting, presided over by the Speaker, was expected to finalise the business for the duration of the session in consultation with floor leaders of various parties.
The sessions began without an address from Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan since both houses were not prorogued by the assembly speaker and legislative council chairman following the budget sessions.
Meanwhile, BJP MLAs Raghunandan Rao and Etala Rajender paid their homage at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel statue opposite the Assembly and the Martyrs' Memorial at Gun Park. They criticised the TRS government for curtailing the Assembly session only for three days.
