Telangana braces for thunderstorms, rains after weeklong heatwave

HYDERABAD: After a long week of heatwaves, Telangana is finally experiencing relief, as thunderstorms and rainfall are predicted for next two days.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an 'orange' alert, predicting moderate thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) very likely to occur at isolated places in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajigiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, and Kamareddy districts of Telangana on April 12, 2024.
Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are very likely to occur at isolated places in Mancherial, Rajanna Sircilla, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, and Wanaparthi districts of Telangana on April 12, 2024.
On April 13, 2024, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Medak, and Kamareddy.
According to Telangana Weatherman T Balaji, there will be some intense storms in Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Nizamabad, and Nirmal. Isolated places may also see hailstorms, and Adilabad, Asifabad, Sircilla, Jagtial, and Siddipet may experience scattered storms on April 12, 2024.
Telangana Weatherman T Balaji said, "Today is the best day for storms, a great day of respite. Get ready, today there will be some intense storms in Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Nizamabad, and Nirmal. Isolated places may see hailstorms too. Adilabad, Asifabad, Sircilla, Jagtial, and Siddipet may experience scattered storms.
"Hyderabad may also see light rains ahead. A few places may experience moderate showers during the evening and night.
The west zone, such as the Cyberabad area, Rajendranagar, Mehdipatnam, Kukatpally, and Lingampally, has a high probability of rain. East Hyderabad should predominantly encounter light rainfall, " he added.
