Telangana Cabinet recommends Kodandaram, Aamir Ali Khan as MLCs again

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Government once again recommended Professor Kodanda Ram's and journalist Aamir Ali Khan's names under the Governor's quota, which was approved in the Cabinet meeting.

A few days ago, the Cabinet had approved their names under the Governor's Quota and sent them to the Raj Bhavan, where Governor Dr Tamilisai Sundararajan issued a gazette appointing them as members of the Telangana Legislative Council.

However, BRS leaders Dr Dasoju Shravan and K Satyanarayana approached the Telangana High Court against their nomination and challenged the Governor's decision. After hearing the case, the High Court invalidated the nomination of both candidates and directed the Governor to reconsider her decision including the option of sending the decision back to the Cabinet.

Accordingly, the processes was done afresh and the names of Professor Kodanda Ram and Journalist Aamir Ali Khan were approved in the Cabinet meeting and the same would be forwarded to the Governor.
