HYDERABAD: The Telangana Congress party has once again demonstrated its anti-farmer agenda by asking Election Commission of India to halt the disbursement of Rythu Bandu funds to farmers at an important phase of investment for a second crop.

TPCC president Revanth Reddy met with the Election Commission of India, along with party MP Uttam Kumar Reddy, and appealed the same. Speaking to the media, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that they had sought the intervention of the Election Commission of India in the disbursement of the Rythu Bandhu funds during the period between notification days.

He said that he brought to the Election Commission's attention concerning how the elections were conducted in Telangana with the BRS party's corrupt practises in 2018 where the government disbursed the Rythu Bandhu funds until the polling day and appealed to the commission to ensure that the Rythu Bandhu funds were disbursed either before the notification or after the polling day.

Uttam Kumar Reddy, on the other hand, said that other schemes, such as pensions and other welfare schemes, would continue to operate as usual.

In a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner, Telangana Congress in-charge Manikrao Thakare raised the issue of Rythu Bandhu funds disbursement during the election. The Congress party expressed concerns about the timing of the disbursement of funds in the letter, claiming it could potentially influence voters.

The Telangana state Congress in-charge revealed that the BRS government used this strategy during the 2018 elections by disbursing funds until polling day, thereby influencing voters.

He also urged the Election Commission of India to take steps to ensure that the implementation of Rythu Bandhu and Dalit Bandhu schemes be deferred either before notification day or after the polling date. However, he said that the pro-poor Congress party was not against welfare schemes.

In a scathing response to the Telangana Congress party's callous letter to the Election Commission of India, which sought to halt the distribution of the second tranche of Rythu Bandhu funds to Telangana farmers, BRS working president and Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development KTR slammed Congress, claiming that the grand old party's true nature had been revealed.

KTR said that the Congress would also request that the Election Commission of India stop drinking water and 24-hour power supply, both of which are ambitious projects of KCR for their cruel politics. He said that the people of Telangana would not tolerate such actions and would teach the Congress party a lesson.KTR accused the Congress party of taking an anti-people stance, claiming that Congress, unable to accept the fact that the Telangana government provides 24-hour power supply, took a stand of supplying only three hours of power and was now plotting to prevent Rythu Bandhu from investing in the second crop.

The Minister said the Karnataka people were facing hardships in the Congress regime and said that the Telangana Congress would definitely bite the dust for its conspiracies as people would teach them a lesson.

Bharat Rashtra Samithi spokesperson Dasoju Sravan has slammed Manikrao Thakare and Revanth Reddy for their letter to the Election Commission, which demonstrates its heartless, anti-farmer, and anti-poor stance driven by a capitalist mindset.

He said that the Congress party, particularly Manikrao Thakare, should understand that while elections come and go, farmers cannot simply stop farming, nor can they be harassed and create problems for the sake of petty politics.

Stating that the welfare and future of our farmers and the underprivileged should never be sacrificed on the altar of selfish political expediency and that their well-being must forever remain our highest priority as always enunciated by KCR, Sravan demanded the Congress party to immediately retract the callous letter and to set aside your divisive and discriminatory politics to protect the farmers.

Dasoju Sravan said that KCR's Rythu Bandhu programme was an innovative programme for farmers that inspired similar initiatives across the country, and he urged the people of Telangana to see the true colours of the Congress party, led by the fraudulent Revanth Reddy, and teach them a befitting lesson in the upcoming elections.
