HYDERABAD: For the first time, journalists and employees of 12 other government departments will be able to cast postal ballots in the upcoming elections in four states, including Telangana.

Employees of the Electricity Board, Railways, Health Department, RTC, Civil Supplies Department, BSNL, Fire department who received a reporting pass from the Election Commission can vote by postal ballot in November 30, 2023.

All individuals were advised to file their Form 12D applications by November 7, 2023. New voters would receive their voter ID cards at the end of the month and the list of voters would be announced in two phases this year.

From January 2023, officials processed 40 lakh new applications, and over 27.50 lakh voter ID cards were printed and dispatched to voters' addresses. The printing of voter identity cards for the new voters was initiated and the remaining voter cards were dispatched to the addresses of the voters.
