The efficiency of any government could be assessed by looking at the way the public grievances were addressed by the officials concerned
HYDERABAD: The efficiency of any government could be assessed by looking at the way the public grievances were addressed by the officials concerned. The novel but pertinent measure of looking into how fast the state resolves the public grievances explains the state of affairs of a state or a union territory of the Indian Union.
The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Government of India in its monthly report of May 2023, has declared that Telangana tops the rankings in states with less than 15,000 grievances with a score of 72.49 followed by Chhattisgarh with score of 55.75 and Uttarakhand with a score of 49.69.
The sibling state of Andhra Pradesh finished last i.e., 10th in Group D with a cumulative score of 8.61 percent, with it being the second state with a net score of less than 10 percent.
Under the disposal of grievances category Telangana and Lakshadweep were mentioned as the only two states in the country which have disposed of all their grievances within six months. Whereas Maharashtra’s 31.77 percent disposals were after the grievances had aged for more than six months.
Telangana the youngest state of the country also topped in closing the grievances with an average closing time of eight days (against 2524 disposals) with the lowest average closing time, followed by the government of Lakshadweep at the second position averaging 12 days (against 171 disposal) and Andaman & Nicobar at the third position, registering an average closing time of 20 days (against 442 disposal).
