HYDERABAD: The Telangana government launched a pilot project for the issuance of Family Digital Cards across 119 constituencies in the state.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy directed officials to execute field-level surveys effectively, selecting one urban and one rural area from each constituency. In fully urban constituencies, two wards or divisions will be selected, while in completely rural constituencies, two villages will be covered. Overall, the pilot project would be carried out in 238 locations from October 3 to 7.

In a review meeting held at the state secretariat on Monday, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy discussed the process of implementing the Telangana Family Digital Cards. He instructed officials to increase the number of field teams in areas with higher population density. During the review, officials updated the Chief Minister on the areas selected for field-level inspection, covering both urban wards and rural villages.

The Chief Minister also clarified that taking a family photograph would be optional. If all family members consented, a photo would be taken; otherwise, it would not be required. The survey aimed to verify existing family data and update records, including adding new members and removing those who had passed away.

The survey utilized data already available with the government, such as ration cards, pensions, self-help group records, Rythu Bandhu, loan waivers, insurance, Arogyasri, and Kanti Velugu schemes. The pilot project aimed to verify this data and incorporate necessary changes in the digital cards.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy advised field officers to be cautious in recording family details to avoid any errors. He also instructed officials to prepare a report summarising both the positive outcomes and challenges of the pilot project. Based on this report, further comprehensive field-level inspections would be planned.

The review meeting was attended by ministers Konda Surekha and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Chief Minister's Advisor Ven Narender Reddy, Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, and several other senior officials.
