Telangana Govt shuts down RTI website, revives after BRS questions its intentions
Taking to X the BRS party handle said “Has the Congress government banned RTI in Telangana? The RTI website has been down for the past 15 days. Praja Palana is a Joke. Period.”
HYDERABAD: Playing the watchdog, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has given a jolt to the Congress Government in the State by waking it up from deep slumber when its RTI website remained shut down for more than a fortnight.
Taking to X the BRS party handle said “Has the Congress government banned RTI in Telangana? The RTI website has been down for the past 15 days. Praja Palana is a Joke. Period.”
The message further elaborated by saying that the RTI was shut down just as when the Congress Government was releasing hundreds of secret GOs, leaving no room for the RTI activists or the opposition to track the GOs through the RTI website. The BRS questioned the Government on its so-called people’s interface ‘Praja Palana’. “No transparency and zero accountability in Praja Palana,” the BRS asked.
However, the Government reactivated the RTI website after a gap of over 15 days. If not cautioned by the BRS the website would have been kept in a coma for some more time giving a decent burial to the Right to Information initiative.
