HYDERABAD: In a resounding judgment, the Telangana High Court has ordered the Telangana State-Level Police Recruitment Board (TSLPRB) to initiate the selection process for 15,644 police constable positions within four weeks. The ruling comes as a major relief for thousands of aspiring officers who had been awaiting fair and swift recruitment.

Justice Abhinand Kumar Shavili and Justice Namavarapu Rajeshwar Rao, presiding over the case on Thursday, also directed the TSLPRB to expedite the selection process and address all outstanding objections raised by candidates regarding the examination. This included concerns about the alleged presence of incorrect questions and the language used in the exam paper.

Recognising the growing frustration among unemployed youth, the bench also emphasised the need for transparency and trust-building. They proposed the formation of an independent expert group, including academics from Osmania University, to review disputed questions and eliminate any errors. This move aimed to address concerns about fairness and impartiality in the selection process.

The decision stemmed from an appeal filed by the TSLPRB chairman challenging a previous ruling related to candidate grievances. Aspirants had criticised the exam for containing potentially incorrect questions and for not being available in Telugu, their preferred language. The High Court has dismissed the TSLPRB's appeals, siding with the candidates' demands for a fair and transparent selection process.

The April 2022 announcement of these vacancies had been followed by delays and controversies, fueling anxieties among applicants. The final exam was held in April 2023, and the results were declared. The High Court has now dismissed the appeals made by the TSLPRB.
