HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court on Tuesday permitted YSRTP president YS Sharmila to proceed with her padayatra in the state. However, the court asked the leader not to make any objectionable – politically and communally sensitive – comments against Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao during the padayatra.
The YSRTP has filed a lunch motion petition in the Telangana High Court after the Narsampet police revoked the permission for the padayatra. The party, in its petition, expressed anguish that the action by the Narsampet police despite the fact that YS Sharmila conducted her padayatra over 3,500 km in a peaceful manner. It alleged that the TRS activists had attacked the yatra at Lingagiri in the Warangal district. The High Court heard the petition and granted permission to YS Sharmila to continue with her yatra.
Sharmila's padayatra was foiled by the Narsampet police after an attack on her convoy triggered tension. The bus she uses for her campaigning was set ablaze and her car was damaged in the incident. The Narsampet police immediately detained her and shifted her to her Lotus Pond residence in Hyderabad.
