Telangana High Court reserves verdict on Group-1 exam petitions
High Court reserves its decision on petitions challenging TSPSC Group-1 preliminary exam key and ST reservations.
HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court has reserved its verdict on the petitions filed against the Telangana Public Service Commission (TSPSC) Group-1 preliminary examination. The hearing on these petitions, conducted on Friday, saw the arguments from both parties being fully considered by the court before the judgement was put on hold.
The Group-1 preliminary exam was conducted on June 9 this year to fill 563 posts, and the preliminary key was released on June 13. Following the release, some candidates approached the High Court, alleging errors in the preliminary key and calling for its re-notification. Other candidates filed petitions challenging the Scheduled Tribe (ST) reservations in the exam.
During the hearing, the candidates' lawyer requested that erroneous questions be removed and a revised merit list be published. The TSPSC lawyer, however, argued that the key was created only after thorough review by subject experts, and urged the court to dismiss the petitions, stating that there were no errors.
TSPSC also pointed out that the Group-1 Mains exams are scheduled to begin on October 21 and that court intervention at this stage could cause significant disruption for candidates preparing for the exams. After hearing both sides, the bench reserved its judgement, leaving candidates who are set to appear for the mains in a state of uncertainty.
