Telangana police mulls two-helmet rule for new bike buyers
The Telangana Police department is gearing up for a new proposal to introduce a system to make it mandatory to purchase two helmets at the time of purchase of a two-wheeler vehicle.
HYDERABAD: The Telangana Police department is gearing up for a new proposal to introduce a system to make it mandatory to purchase two helmets at the time of purchase of a two-wheeler vehicle.
The proposal was brought in to reduce the accidents,, However, the police department is yet to send proposals to the government.
According to officials, the two-helmet rule was made to ensure that the rider and the pillion driver of the bike would wear the helmet to prevent serious injuries during major accidents.
Currently, the police department is imposing a helmet rule mandatorily for bike riders. However, with the statistics revealing that the pillion drivers are most affected during road accidents, the police department has come up with a new proposal for the two-helmet rule.
The Road Safety Council of the Police Department will prepare the proposals and send them to the government for approval.
