Telangana registers Rs 1100 crore in liquor sales during Dasara festivities
Liquor sales in Telangana surpassed Rs 1,100 crore during the Dasara festival, with Hyderabad leading in sales.
HYDERABAD: Liquor sales across Telangana surged during the Dasara festival, crossing Rs 1100 crore.
According to the state excise department, sales on October 11 alone amounted to Rs 200.44 crore, while Rs 152 crore worth of liquor was sold on October 10. Between October 1 and 10, alcohol worth Rs 852.40 crore was sold.
Bars, liquor stores, and pubs across the state saw increased sales, contributing significantly to the state's revenue. Hyderabad once again led the state in liquor sales.
There are 2,260 liquor outlets and 1,171 bars and restaurants across Telangana, where liquor sales were strong. The festive demand, which began ahead of Dasara, peaked over the weekend, especially on Saturday and Sunday. By the end of September, liquor sales had already reached Rs 2,838 crore. From October 1 to 11, 10.44 lakh cases of liquor were sold, worth Rs 1,100 crore, according to excise officials.
In the first 10 days of October, 17.59 lakh beer bottles were sold. Among districts, the erstwhile Ranga Reddy district recorded the highest liquor sales, followed by the combined districts of Karimnagar, Nalgonda, and Warangal.
