HYDERABAD: All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge has said that the party's victory in Telangana should be a role model for rest of the country. Addressing the party’s 'Booth Level Agents' meeting in LB Stadium on Thursday, Kharge said, "The Congress contested the Telangana Assembly elections alone and won because of the hardwork of its workers. We should make Telangana a model with our efforts. The rest of the governments in the country will set this model as an example and follow this regime."

Kharge warned that while the party in Telangana was strong under the leadership of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, the leaders should be wary of ED, CBI, and IT raids by the BJP-led Centre.

“Congress leaders should be careful…BJP will try to scare you by using ED, CBI and IT departments. But nobody is afraid here,” he said.

Targetting the BRS, Kharge said that former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had never targetted the BJP and would support the party in the polls.

Attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi post the January 22 consecration of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Kharge said that people's stomach cannot be filled by showing the pictures of God.

“Every day you see ads on the front page of newspapers stating – “Modi ki guarantee”. I want to ask, did you (Modi) fulfill earlier guarantees? I will ask him everything in the coming session of Parliament. Stomachs are not fulfilled by showing by the photos of god to people. He has a habit of coming up with excuses – like Pakistan, China, the god- whenever there is a crisis. Don’t get entangled in his trap. If you get trapped, democracy will end in the country,” he said.

Don't test our patience: Bhatti Vikramarka

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka warned the BRS to not take its patience for granted and the intent of the Congress was to only respect the opposition. He said that if the party is tested, BRS would be wiped out.

Bhatti Vikramarka expressed confidence that over the victory of Congress party in the Parliamentary elections.

Rythu Bharosa by February: Revanth Reddy

Addressing party workers, Revanth Reddy said that the BRS would be crushed in the upcoming elections just like the Assembly elections. He said that the Lok Sabha polls contest was only between the BJP and the Congress but not with the BRS.

“People ousted BRS from power as they failed to implement promises made to people,” he said.

Revanth also promised that all the 63 lakh farmers in the State who are beneficiaries of Rythu Bharosa would receive cash deposits into their accounts by the end of February. He also vowed to implement all the six guarantees promised by the Congress by the time the party completes 100 days in power.
