Tensions rise at Telangana Bhavan as Congress workers clash with BRS supporters
Congress workers protested against alleged offensive posts targeting Minister Konda Surekha, leading to clashes.
HYDERABAD: Tensions flared outside Telangana Bhavan on Monday when Congress activists staged a protest against BRS members, accusing them of posting offensive content on social media about Minister Konda Surekha.
The situation escalated when members of the Congress Handloom Workers' Department attempted to burn an effigy of BRS leader K Taraka Rama Rao, demanding an apology.
The protest quickly led to a confrontation, as BRS supporters gathered to counter the Congress workers. A physical altercation ensued between the two groups, with reports indicating a brief period of intense pushing and verbal exchanges. Several individuals sustained minor injuries during the clash.
The police, deployed in significant numbers at Telangana Bhavan, intervened to disperse both groups and restore order. The Congress members expressed strong resentment towards BRS's social media wing, condemning the derogatory posts and warning of future protests, including the burning of effigies in front of BRS leaders' homes if such incidents continued.
BRS activists alleged that the Congress workers attempted to forcibly enter Telangana Bhavan, which led to the confrontation. However, the police managed to control the situation by dispersing the activists of both the parties.
