Thousands of devotees participating in Ujjaini Mahankali Bonalu Jatara
Telangana CM Revanth Reddy, Union Minister Kishan Reddy and several dignitaries offered special pooja Sri Ujjani Mahakali Devasthanam
HYDERABAD: The annual Ujjaini Mahankali Bonalu Jatara is in full swing at the historic Sri Ujjani Mahakali Devasthanam in Secunderabad. Thousands of devotees offer prayers and Bonam (a traditional offering of cooked rice, jaggery, and curd) to the goddess.
Since the early hours of the morning, devotees have been queuing up to offer their prayers and seek the goddess's blessings. The atmosphere is filled with religious fervour and traditional music.
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy visited the temple and offered silk clothes to the goddess. He performed a special pooja and received blessings from the temple priests. The priests chanted Vedic hymns and presented him with the goddess's 'prasadam'.
Earlier in the day, Transport Minister Ponnala Prabhakar and his family visited the temple and offered the first Bonam of the day, along with silk clothes.
Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, BJP MP K Laxman, Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender, MLC Balmoori Venkat, and other dignitaries also visited the temple and paid their respects.
The authorities have made elaborate arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the festival and the convenience of the devotees. Police personnel have been deployed in large numbers to manage the crowds and traffic.
