Three killed by lightning in Jayashankar Bhupalpally

BHUPALPALLY: Two women and one man died in two different incidents of lightning strikes in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district on Tuesday.

According to sources, the two women identified as Saritha (30) and Mamatha (32) were working on a chilli farm in Kailapur of Chityala mandal, died instantly when the lightning struck them. The women went into the field to take up nursery work on their farm hoping to benefit from the rains.

In Damerakunta of Kataram mandal, a farmer Rajeswar Rao (46) who was involved in farm work also died when lightning struck him in the open field. A pall of gloom descended on these two villages as the farmers resumed farming activity with the resumption of rains after a long gap.
