HYDERABAD: In yet another procedural measure to fulfill legal obligation for the metamorphosis of Telangana Rashtra Samithi into Bharat Rashtra Samithi, the TRS has issued a public notice in the form of a newspaper advertisement.

The notice was issued in the name of the TRS President. While proposing to change the TRS name into BRS, the notice invited objections from the public, if any, for this move. "If anyone has any objection to the proposed new name, they may send their objection with reasons thereof, to the Secretary (Political Party), Election Commission of India, Nirvachan Sadan, Ashoka Road, New Delhi - 110001 within 30 days of the publication," the notice read.

Issuing a public notice through a print publication is a mandatory prerequisite as per law when a person or an entity decides to rechristen. On October 5, 2022, TRS supremo and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) announced his plan to rename the party as Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) as part of his national political ambitions. A formal request to this effect was also submitted to the Election Commission of India (ECI) subsequently.

Efforts are in full swing for the construction of a BRS office in New Delhi. A building was also taken on rent to house the temporary office of the party. Renovation works were going on there in full steam.

The party however contested the Munugode by-election in the name of TRS only as the legal and other formalities like the ECI approval could not be completed before the by-poll schedule was notified. The party continues to await the ECI green signal for the change of its name.
