TS to TG: Vehicle registrations to change prefix in Telangana, orders issued
The vehicle registration prefix has been changed from TS to TG as sought by Congress Government. Notification was issued.

NEW DELHI: It’s official. Henceforth, TS would become TG when it comes to reference of Telangana. As the vehicle registrations have to be changed by the Government of India, Surface Transport Ministry, the Telangana Government made a recommendation seeking the change.
Soon after the formation of Telangana, the then TRS Government sought it to be TS, standing for Telangana State. Though Telangana is just one word, the present Congress Government wanted it to be TG.
Special Representative to the Government of Telangana Dr. Mallu Ravi on Tuesday said that the Government of India, had approved the change from TS to TG on vehicle registration plates.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways issued gazette notification effective immediately i.e March 12, 2024. This change aims to enhance regulatory clarity and effectiveness, he claimed.
