TSRTC slashes HRA by 6 percent, employees under GHMC area most hurt
The TSRTC employees under the GHMC area so far received an HRA of 30 percent. With a cut of 6 percent now onwards they would receive only 24 percent.
HYDERABAD: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) on Saturday issued a circular slashing the House Rent Allowance (HRA) given to its employees by 6 percent, a move that will hurt the corporation’s staff working in Hyderabad and Secunderabad regions.
The TSRTC employees under the GHMC area so far received an HRA of 30 percent. With a cut of 6 percent now onwards they would receive only 24 percent. Out of the 42,000 employees working for the TSRTC, more than 20,000 work in the Hyderabad and Secunderabad regions. The TSRTC management also slashed HRA given to its employees in Karimnagar, Khammam, Mahbubnagar, Nizamabad, Godavarikhani, and Warangal by 3 percent, reducing it from 20 percent to 17 percent.

On the other hand, TSRTC reduced HRA from 14.5 percent to 13 percent for staff working in Adilabad, Nirmal, Bodhan, Kamareddy, Armoor, Sircilla, Jagtial, Korutla, Metpalli, Siddipet, Zaheerabad, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Tandur, Wanaparthy, Gadwal, Nalgonda, Miryalaguda, Suryapet, Jangaon, Kothagudem and Mancherial and from 12 percent to 11 percent in remaining areas.
The TSRTC move to slash HRA seemed to be a move to offset the financial benefit accrued through the recent declaration of 21 percent fitment and 16 percent interim relief based on PRC-2017.
