TSRTC covers 3.50 crore km, nets Rs 165 cr revenue in Sankranti season, says Sajjanar

As compared to 2022, the number of people travelling in the TSRTC buses increased by around 12 lakh people

HYDERABAD: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) buses travelled 3.5 crore kilometres during the Sankranti festival and earned Rs 165.46 crores, said a report released by TSRTC MD VC Sajjanar.

The buses, which charged the usual tariff and also offered special discounts on ticket booking, saw a footfall of 2.8 crore passengers between January 10 to January 20. As compared to 2022, the number of people travelling in the TSRTC buses increased by around 12 lakh people. As compared to last year’s revenue, Rs 62.29 crore extra revenue was earned.

The TSRTC buses travelled 3.57 crore kilometres, 26.60 lakh additional kilometres as compared to 2022. On an average, the buses travelled 2.42 lakh kilometres each day. The Occupancy ratio (OR) for the buses also increased from 59.17 percent to 71.19 percent.

“People choosing the TSRTC buses this Sankranti has proven that the TSRTC buses are the safest and best option. By running 3,923 special buses with regular fares, passengers have gained confidence in our company. Moreover, our staff has done a wonderful job keeping up with the rush. Preemptive measures have been taken without any trouble." TSRTC MD VC Sajjanar said.

He said that special camps were set up in congested areas like LB Nagar, Uppal, Arangar, KPHB and Boinpally, where mobile bio-toilets, drinking water and chairs were made available for the convenience of passengers. Chairman MLA Bajireddy Govardhan said that he was proud of the employees and wished that the organisation continued to work the same way. He also thanked the staff of National Highway Authorities of India (NHAI).
