HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy accompanied by Minister for Transport Ponnam Prabhakar met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Begumpet airport on Tuesday and bade farewell to the latter after his two-day visit to Telangana. The PM addressed a public meeting at Patancheru before leaving for Odisha from Hyderabad.

At the airport, the Chief Minister submitted a wishlist to the Prime Minister and sought the Centre’s assistance in developing the State. The State Government sought the Centre’s help in producing electricity as per the proposed installed capacity of 4,000 MW at the NTPC thermal power unit. At present the unit was producing only 1,600 MW. The Telangana Government urged assistance in the expansion of the Hyderabad Metro, the cleansing of Musi, and the Musi riverfront development project.

The Government urged the Union Government to impress upon Maharashtra to facilitate the Tummadihatti project. The Telangana Government would require Maharashtra’s nod for a share in water and land acquisition.

The list included approval for the Rs 7,700 crore Hyderabad-Srisailam elevated corridor via the Amrabad forest area. The Centre had already approved the project and granted Rs 3 crore for the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR). Once completed, the elevated corridor would reduce the distance between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh by 45 km.

Telangana demanded 100 percent financial assistance for supplying potable drinking water from the Jal Jeevan Mission scheme. Over 10 lakh households don’t have a supply of safe drinking water in Telangana, the State Government said.

The Telangana Government also wanted the Centre to review the IPS cadre strength in the State because of the district reorganisation that the earlier Government undertook after the formation of the State. The Government explained that the Home Ministry granted a strength of 76 IPS officers in 2016 but there was a requirement of 29 additional posts.

While thanking the Centre for approving Hyderabad-Ramagundam, and Hyderabad-Nagpur elevated corridors over defence lands, the Telangana Government demanded 178 acres in the cantonment area, 1,350 acres of Topkhana for construction of 10 TMC Kesavapuram reservoir and handing over of 1,038 acre Field Firing Range lands in Shamirpet to the State Government.

The State Government demanded the establishment of an Indian Institute of Management in Hyderabad and the release of Rs 347.54 crore under the National Health Mission. Speeding up of eight projects under Bharat Mala Pariyojana including Kalwakurthy-Kollapur, Gowrelli-Valigonda, Torrur-Nehrunagar, Nehrunagar-Kothagudem, Jagtial-Karimnagar four-lane, Jadcherla-Marikal four-lane, Marikal-Diyasagar tender process.

The State Government demanded the Centre establish a Semiconductor and display manufacturing unit in Telangana.
