Tweet war with people: Telangana Governor throws stones at State Govt from proverbial glasshouse
It’s controversies galore on the twitter handle of Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan
HYDERABAD: It’s controversies galore on the twitter handle of Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan. As if to lend credence to her critics, especially those from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), the Governor makes it very obvious that she’s the twitter voice of the BJP.
The other day, a tweet by her addressing Chief Secretary of the State regarding the pending Bills incurred the wrath of netizens. The Governor deliberately courted the controversy. She could have called the Chief Secretary, as the latter is always a phone call away for the Governor and resolved the imbroglio within minutes. It’s a matter of 11 signatures.
While it’s so, the Governor also rubbed the Telangana Government on the wrong regarding the establishment of medical colleges.
The Governor tweeted on March 5: “ When every state applied for new med colleges under PMSSY scheme Telangana failed to apply in time as stated by Union Health minister @MansukhMandavia You sleep and wake up late and ask. TN got 11 medical colleges in a single Year” .
People of Telangana in their sharp reactions brought forth her earlier tweets and questioned if she’s acting like a governor or the spokes person of the BJP.
The netizens questioned the lack of consistency in her multiple tweets and the divergent views on the sanctioning of medical colleges by Finance Minister Nirmala Seetharaman and Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
While Dr Tamilisai had quoted Mandaviya as saying that the Telangana Government “sleep and wake up late”. For this, the Governor was hauled over the coals by the tweeple. With the State Government’s initiative, medical colleges are being set up in every district and her own speech clip was cited when she had said “Telangana was going to get eight medical colleges” by a tweep.
It may be recalled that IT Minister KTR in one of his tweets derided the BJP for lack of consistency in telling lies and mockingly asked the Prime Minister to train his team, precisely for the same issue.
As if she just doesn’t care for the popular responses, Dr Tamilisai tweeted again, saying “ Amazing infrastructure to match international standards from honb @PMOIndia GoI funded visionary schemes PMSSY one medical college in every district accross Nation. Such facilities will add on to promote medical tourism potential in future,” quoting Mansukh Mandaviya’s tweet.
She placed another tweet in the thread: “ Medical revolution in the last 8yrs:Number of med colleges doubled from around 300 to 700 approx.MBBS seats increased by 85% nearing 1 Lakhs from 30000 ,PG med seats 150% increased.15 New AIIMS & New Nursing Colleges in every New med colleges added district wise accross Nation”.
The Governor opened a war front with the State Government by throwing stones from her proverbial glasshouse.
And, she is a medical doctor, that to a gynaecologist and obstetrician.
