HYDERABAD: Telangana Unemployed Joint Action Committee (JAC) Chairman Motilal Naik ended his nine-day hunger strike at Gandhi Hospital due to worsening health conditions. Naik had been fasting to highlight the issues faced by the unemployed in the state and concluded his strike on Tuesday by drinking coconut water.

Addressing the media, Naik expressed frustration over the government's lack of response to his demands. "When KCR went on a hunger strike for nine days, Telangana state was formed. But despite my nine-day hunger strike, not a single job has been created," he lamented. Naik criticised the Congress government for ignoring the plight of the unemployed and focusing more on politics.

Naik's health reportedly deteriorated during the strike, with increased creatine levels and damage to his kidneys and liver. He highlighted that while Telangana achieved its rights over water and electricity after achieving statehood, the youth, particularly those aged 25 to 35, still eagerly await employment opportunities.

"The government did not permit a hunger strike at Osmania University. Is it public policy to ignore if people die?" he questioned. Naik also alleged that his phone was stolen, preventing him from communicating with others.

Naik demanded the cancellation of the current DSC and the notification of a Mega DSC. "From tomorrow (Wednesday), we will intensify our movement until 50,000 jobs are provided. We will protest until the government accepts all our demands," he declared, adding that the JAC would consult all political parties. He also thanked the BRS leaders, media, and social media for their support.
