VRAs protest outside CM Revanth Reddy's residence over pending job promises

HYDERABAD: A group of Village Revenue Assistants (VRAs) staged a protest outside Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's residence at Jubilee Hills on Monday, seeking a review of Government Orders (GOs) 81 and 85.

The protestors gathered to submit their grievances to the Chief Minister but were informed that he was not home. In response, the VRAs held their demonstration at the location itself. Police later dispersed the group.

The protesting VRAs highlighted that GOs 81 and 85, issued by the BRS government, had promised to regularise their services as government employees. The orders also included provisions for giving jobs to the heirs of VRAs who had reached 61 years of age. According to the protestors, the orders outlined specific job roles based on educational qualifications—degree holders were to be appointed as Junior Assistants, those with Intermediate qualifications as Record Assistants, and candidates with a Class 10 education as Office Subordinates across various departments.

The VRAs pointed out that the government promised jobs to 3,797 heirs of those above 61. They also claimed that CM Revanth Reddy, Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, and other leaders had assured them of favourable action before the elections. However, months had passed, and no jobs had been provided, leading to their dissatisfaction.

Additionally, the VRAs mentioned that the Congress government had formed a committee led by CCLA Naveen Mittal to address their concerns. Despite the committee's submission of its report, they expressed frustration over the lack of implementation.
